It is owned and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was created by the construction of a dam on the Arkansas River. Birch Lake covers an area of 80 acres and has a shoreline of 700 miles. It is a popular destination for fishing, boating, camping, and hiking. The lake is stocked with various species of fish including catfish, bass, and bluegill. There are also several campgrounds and recreational areas located around the lake. Birch Lake is considered one of the best lakes in Oklahoma for outdoor enthusiasts.
